We gotta get you cranked so you can hear audio streaming.

The REAL ONE PLAYER is totally free. We are the ones who have to pay over a thousand dollars a year to stream in Real Audio. The listener's audio software is free.

Make sure you have speakers that are connected with your computer. That means you have an audio card and the computer is "listen" capable.

Check one thing out first before you go any further. Do you have a little yellow speaker (side view) showing on your bottom task bar on the right. If it's there, double click. Either a single volume control will come up or a set of five that say volume control, wave, etc. That's where you can set your master volume. Make sure NONE of the "Mute all" at the bottom of each switch is checked. If they were, there would be no way you could hear anything on your computer. The mute is sometimes engaged and the volume is often turned off and from nothing you may have done. If that little speaker is not at the bottom, go to your Start button, then click programs, then click Accessories, then click entertainment, then click volume control. That how you get to the same set of controls if it is not on the task bar. If mute is not clicked then do this...

Double check by going to the Norm's Radio home page and clicking "LISTEN" on the top. If you are told you need a Real One Player, get rid of the message and click this link:

RealAudio G2

CLICKING will take you to the RealAudio page. Don't pay attention to all the banners and other windows that come up. Just get rid of them if they are in the way. Remember, Real Audio wants to sell you something, but what you want is totally free.

Important! Two-thirds down the screen is a gray horizontal bar with small letters Free Real One Player. That's what you want! It's totally free and they hide it well. Click that "Free Real One Player" on the gray bar. A security warning window will come up - say yes. It will take you to a download page with a Thank You, banners, advertising, etc."Realdownload in progress" The green window strip at the top will give you
a running report on how the download is progressing. It may take 20 minutes to download. It does it automatically.

It will then take you to a Real One Install Wizzard

On the square that says Express Install make sure that circle is clicked as that's what you want.
Next is the license agreement. Click accept. Then you have to check what speed your modem is. If you don't know, clicking My Computer on your desktop and going to system or whatever will tell you what modem your have. I would guess you have a 56.6. You have opportunity to check 28.8, 56.6, ISDN, and ISDN dual. If you have access through your cable company you have a DSL.

Next it may tell you to remove any old Real Audio software. You shouldn't have any.

The install wizard finished and takes you to some blocks that you need to fill out for records.

It's a welcome registration: Give them your email address, password twice, country, zip,
gender, and remove the check mark that would send advertising to you -- and on that page or the next indicate that you want the basic setup without all their bells and whistles you never use.

You done did it! Good shew!!!! Now get rid of any frame advertising they dumped on you and go back to the Sounds page of the Raider Room. OH, HOW I HOPE THIS WORKS FOR YOU!

This is neat because it will open all kinds of audio and video opportunities for you. You'll be able to listen to radio stations all over the country -- even your hometown.

Now that you Real Audio is operable, here's a great site for you to listen to if you enjoy nostalgia and humor. Ludlow Porch is a well known southern philosopher/humorist who has a three hour call in program in the Southeast You can listen on the Internet from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. You can hear him by going to

http://www.broadcast.com/shows/ludlow/

Ludlow talks about the old days, customs, habits, old movies, school, all the stuff you and I love. He has a group of regular callers you get to know. Today, he was spending the show talking about what our parents and family used to tell us to keep us in line. I stared listening to Ludlow in the late 60's on the old WRNG Radio in Atlanta. (Young Neal Boortz was part of that stable back then.) Ludlow could always be heard in Atlanta. For a time he was even carried on WSB-AM 11-2am on clear channel and was heard in some 27 states. But alas, Atlanta became too sophisticated and young for Ludlow and the Fun Seekers. Now he is only heard on radio stations in small towns all over the Southeast.

Ludlow is Louis Grizzard's brother -- a humorist and nationally syndicated columist and reported for the Atlanta Journal and Chicago Tribune. Every hour from the hour to six-minutes after there is silence as radio stations do news and spots.
